Would you go to a baby shower for someone you've never met?

Basically, my boyfriend of 2 years has this friend that he's known since high school. They aren't super close anymore but they keep each other updated on their lives. She invited me to her Baby shower, not personally, just told my bf to tell me that I'm invited. we've tried to meet up with her a few times but she's backed out, so I've never actually met her in person. My boyfriend's on deployment so I'd be going alone and that feels even more awkward. I feel like if she made more of an effort to be my friend it wouldn't be so strange to go without meeting her, but this is the first time she wants to meet and I feel a little uncomfortable.

I did reach out to her and ask her for more information, but it still seemed weird that she doesn't seem interested in getting to know me just maybe having more people at her shower. I just get a weird vibe and I'm not sure if I'm overthinking it. thoughts ?!?
