As a school admin I both love and hate uniform. It gets rid of all conversation around dress code, but it also stifles students.  It doesn't get rid of bullying, they just find something else. At one point this year it was type of supplies. Seriously.

I hated school uniforms. With a burning passion. it doesn't change anything. They just made fun of the uniform clothes. Sad.

The schools I went to growing up had a mix of kids from different incomes. When some families are worried about making sure their child can get a school lunch (or dinner on the table) they shouldn't have to worry about affording uniforms too. If they can get them discounted or donated then I don't have an issue with schools choosing them.

There is nothing but school uniform in public and private schools where I live, I see no benefit to non-uniform in public school.

I'm for uniforms! I live near a hs and the way these young girls dress is unbelievable! Crop tops, booty shorts, bras under jackets..really? Its not a club, come on!

I went to a private school and we had to wear uniforms until high school, then had a dress code. Honestly, dress codes don't and won't prevent bullying. Kids will still pick on each other because of your backpack/purse, hair, accessories, shoes, etc, just like they did at my school. Dress codes can be good because it prevents dress that may be vulgar or inappropriate, but it still isn't the great equalizer some act like it is.

Some school here in Illinois have uniforms till they reach high school. I'm so glad

In the UK there is a school uniform in both public and private schools. From reception (age 3-4) they have a school uniform right up to secondary school, year 11 (age 16-17). After that college etc doesn't require a uniform. In some ways I like the uniform, in others I don't! But rules are rules hey! 😊🌻
