Opinions please

I'm 30 weeks and Friday I spent the evening in the hospital because of spotting and cramps. I lost my mucus plug on Monday. Ever since, I've had a thicker discharge and still losing bits of my mucus plug. Then today, I've had cramps off and on and I went to the bathroom and had a good amount of discharge/mucus plug on my toilet paper, but it had specks of brown and red in it. Then tonight, I've had more spotting. My husband doesn't think I should call, but I'm seriously considering calling my doctor. Everything I've read online is pointing to bloody show, something I didn't experience when I had my son.
