My birth story
So on Friday May 18 I had a drs appt and I was 1cm for the 3rd week in a row. I was 39+2 at this point due May 23. I was so upset and felt defeated. We talked about doing a membrane sweep and scheduling induction if I didn't progress by my next appointment which was the following Friday. Sunday morning right before 1am I woke up with I thought was a really bad stomach ache. I kept having to go to the bathroom and I threw up. Then I noticed that my stomach pains were pretty low like cramps and were pretty consistent. So I called my dr around 2:30am and told her what was going on and she said to go to the hospital and get checked. I laid back down and dealt with the pain until about 3am and woke up my husband. I took a shower and we left around 4am to go to the hospital. Get in a room and the dr comes in around 5am. She says I'm 3cm but it's not enough to keep me so they send me home. She was like oh you probably won't make it to your next appt Friday I'm sure we'll see you during the week. So I go home. At this point I'm in so much pain on the ride home. We get home around 6am and I can not sleep. As soon as I'm about to fall asleep I get a contraction. I lasted until about 7:30 when I had my husband call the dr again because I was in so much pain I couldn't even talk. So she says come back in. I can't get up out of bed because I'm in so much pain. We finally leave and get to the hospital around 9am. I get checked and I'm at 6cm. I asked for an epidural which took forever because they had to do blood work first. I was in so much pain I was sure I had missed my window of opportunity and wasn't going to be able to get the epidural. The anesthesiologist comes in about an hour and a half later and places the epidural. It didn't take as well on the right side as the left. I was numb on the left side and couldn't lift my leg but could still feel pain and contractions on the right. So they had me lay on the right side and he pumped some more medication through the catheter. They came back in to check me once I was comfortable around 11am and I was 9cm. The dr broke my water and had to use the peanut ball to open my pelvis and help the baby move down the birth canal. Around 11:30am I felt the urge to push but she told me to let it build a little more. At 11:50 I called the nurse and said it's time I have to push. So the dr and nurses got ready and at 11:55 I started to push. I felt like all my efforts were for nothing. I felt like it wasn't going to work and he wasn't moving down because with every push they would say keep going keep going he's right there and then I was out of breath and had to take a break before pushing again. They gave me oxygen in between contractions so the baby wouldn't be stressed. At around 1pm they said ok it's go time. They broke the head down and had me in the stirrups. I saw the dentist had put on a face mask with a plastic shield and was like ok shit just got real lol. I did probably 4 or 5 more rounds of pushing when they said ok he's crowning let's make this the last push. So I pushed harder than I ever thought imaginable. He was born at 1:32pm. They said his cord was beautiful, my husband cut it, and they placed him on my belly while they cleaned him up. One more push and I delivered the placenta. I had a minor tear on the inside so I got I think 2 stitches.
