Courthouse wedding?? Any advice please help

Due to certain things happening in my family’s life my mom decided that she can not host my wedding on September 1st. Now me and my fiancé have made the decision to go to the courthouse and have a big reception a year from now. Ultimately my hearts kinda broken because we spent so much money on tents and flowers and the food and everything else and not to mention my beautiful wedding dress. I can’t help but be a little sad that I had this beautiful wedding planned out and now it’s not happening. I dread thinking about calling everybody and all the company’s to cancel everything. This past year was so hard for my family and the one thing that really brought everyone’s spirts up was this wedding and a celebration of a marriage.

For anyone who got married through a court house or lawyer did you guys do anything like a dinner or something right afterwards?? We had not planned to do a honey moon afterwards due to the cost of the wedding so now I’m not sure what to do.
