1st Preg Doctor visit?

Hi everyone, 
I am 5 weeks 2 days today. I was curious and wanted to know what generally happens at your first doctors visit. I asked and she was talking so fast. I just want to know in more detail. I'm kind of unhappy because she said they don't do ultrasounds in the office I would have to come a week or 2 later and meet at a place that does. uh I am so excited and might just switch ob-gyns bc that is to long 5w2ds and I have an appointment Jun 28.

That’s a usual time to wait. Usually you have your first midwife appointment 8-12 weeks and your dating scan (ultrasound) at 12 weeks or there abouts.

Pretty standard for doctors offices to not see you until you’re 8-12 weeks along. I’m high risk and didn’t even see my doctor until I was 10 weeks along.

There’s nothing to see right now on an ultrasound you wouldn’t even hear a heartbeat.

Call the office and ask, because it depends on the clinic. You shouldn’t get an ultrasound before the 8-12 week mark anyway, because it’s hit or miss if you will see anything before then. If you’re not getting an ultrasound at your first appointment, it’s likely you’ll meet with the billing department and do blood work

A lot of clinics won’t do an ultrasound until about 8 weeks since before then there’s not much to see, save for a yolk sac and maybe a fetal pole. People don’t usually get a scan that early unless they are experiencing worrisome symptoms or have some risk factors the doctor wants to monitor. 
A typical first prenatal consists of a urine test, blood test, pelvic and breast exam, and time for you to ask basic questions. Super quick and easy.
