Truth about OPKs

So I’ve been on this app for a while and I’ve learned so much from other women on here. I’ve learned things that I had zero idea about.

One thing that I found out about was OPKs. I had never used one much less heard of it. So I decided to buy some and figure out if I’m ovulating. I believe at one point I had a super close to positive opk and decided to google search OPKs myself to get more info on them.

What I found out is that OPKs are the WORST because they are a total waste of money (for me anyway). As it turns out, OPKs don’t even tell you that you’re ovulating! At first I was ok with that but reading further, it was also discovered that even if I got a positive opk, I may not even ovulate at all!

So here’s the lowdown- The opk just detects the LH surge that happens just before you’re supposed to ovulate. Once the surge happens then you should ovulate about 12-36 hours afterward. But again, you can have an LH surge and not even ovulate.
