Would you fight for gun control if it hit close to home?
I don’t know how many of you have heard about the Noblesville West Middle School shooting yesterday, but Noblesville is a neighboring city to me and the school is just 15 minutes from mine (I’m in high school). So, when we found out about the shooting early yesterday morning (10 AM), there was a shift in the environment. Everything changed.
I was pro gun control before the shooting happened 10 miles from me, but now that it has, I see a change in my community demanding for answers and solutions (gun control) — and Indiana is VERY pro second amendment, so this is insane how many people have changed their minds.
So my question is, if you don’t already support gun control, would a shooting in your community change your mind?
We too often think “it happens to other people, it’ll never happen to us”. And then it does. So WHEN it does, is there a possibility it could change your mind? Would you fight for gun control?
Also follow up question: did you even HEAR about the shooting if you’re from the US? Or have we normalized it THAT much?
