Am I being unreasonable?

My sister and I babysit for each other because we work opposite part time shifts to save money and I asked if I could babysit just one day this week instead of two or three. Please tell me if you think I'm being unreasonable? It's not like I ask this of her all the time. (My husband is off all next week so we won't need her to babysit, if the positions were reversed I would figure something out for her).

This is gonna sound mean, but her kids aren’t your responsibility and if she wants to be upset, then let her.

I know a lot of people are saying her kids aren’t your responsibility, but if you two have an arrangement where you take turns watching each others kids well then yeah they kinda are. 
That’s not to say you can’t ask for a week off, but maybe you could have given her more notice if that’s what you wanted. 
It looks like she initially expected you to watch her kids 4 days and has come down to asking for just 1. It seems like she really is trying. I understand you want to go to the zoo and you aren’t sure which day. But if it happens to be the 1 day you are watching them could you not just bring them to the zoo too?

I don’t think you are unreasonable at all. I think you are right in choosing what time you can give help to your sister. My only issue with this text thread is you kind of beat around the bush. I think next time just be straight forward. “This is the one day I’m free to help this week, will that work for you? If not I’m sorry but we have plans.” Don’t ask her which day come with a set idea of what you can do and leave it at that instead of being so vague. I think it leaves less of this confusion where she is assuming a bunch of negative things. Try that next time and she will probably respect that and not think you or your husband are being unreasonable.

Her kids aren’t your responsibility, but if you don’t want yo lose free child care why don’t you take her child to the zoo also? Say I’ll take her but you have to pay for her admission to the zoo and food.

I think it is a bit unreasonable if you have an arrangement where you babysit alternately.
It would be unreasonable for her to do the same.
Couldn’t you take her children to the zoo too?
