Should I be worried about my 3 month olds eye?!

Since my son was born he’s had what we always assumed to be a clogged tear duct. His doctor just keeps telling me to put BM in it which obviously isn’t working. It got a little better, would only goop up when he was sleeping but since yesterday the corner of his eye is red on the skin and spreading onto his eyelid and this picture is after I cleaned all the slimy green goo off and his eye is always crusted shut when he wakes up. 😞

My daughter had one when she was around this age. Whipping it with a warm wet cloth and massaging her tear duck is what helped us clear it out

My babe has a clogged tear duct and we are seeing an ophthalmologist to have it evaluated. Hers isn’t nearly as bad as your babes. I would see a pediatric ophthalmologist!

We did a warm, clean washcloth (never re-use, never use it on the other eye) every hour including when he woke up over night. We also cleaned it with baby shampoo which our pediatrician told us to do. You have to be very aggressive with keeping it very, very clean.

My doctor told me to rub the corner of his eye where he duct is every day multiple times a day and that is what truly cures it, and just wipe the boogies with a wet tissue and also put a warm cloth on it it helps a lot, are doc gave us eye drops just in case and we did use it only 2 times my baby is now 3 months and hasn’t had it since he was 3 weeks just keep rubbing the corner of the eye

Looks infected. See an eye doctor. They might give you an antibiotic to put in there.

Yes no a doctor said do BM for clogged tear duct and it made my lo eye worse I took him to an eye specialist and he gave me some drops to do twice a day and within a week or two his eye was cleared up I would take your lo to someone else.

One of my twins eyes was like that. The doc said it would clear up on its own. Everyone thought he had an eye infection but the doc said it was clogged tear duct. She showed us how to massage it and clean it with warm wash cloth. It got better as he got older. He’s 10 month now and it’s been better for about 3 months. Doc said if not cleared by 12 months she would refer us to specialist but it opened on its own 😄

His dad is super crazy about everything especially since we have such an idiot ped. I’m sure we’ll be making a trip to see someone tomorrow about it. Thank you ladies so much! 💕💕 I’m sure it’s fine I just needed to know we weren’t overreacting about it but at this point it’s obviously not getting better with BM and warm wash cloths. It’s the greenest smiliest goop I’ve ever seen and I’m worried it’s going to turn into a much bigger problem if we don’t get it looked at by someone else.

Thank you! Working on a new ped, next month we’re getting into a much better one! I was just worried about infection and every time he wakes up it’s crusted shut 😞 I’ve tried warm cloths because it’s so crusty I don’t want to just rip it off, I’ll try massaging it too though. If it’s looking worse in the morning definitely taking him somewhere to be seen! Thank you!
