When is the best time to install a car seat for your newborn on the way?

Just wondering what you all think. I'm 31 weeks and have started thinking about when I'm going to get things ready for the ride home from the hospital.

Put the base in and get used to snapping it in, do not leave the seat portion in the car until you leave to brin baby home. Leave it at home and once you leave the hospital then have someone bring it. Limits the risk of having it damaged in an accident cuz who wants a brand new car seat ad then it's in your car and you get rear ended or even hit on the side and you have to replace it before it's even been used.

I took mine to the fire house where they installed it for me.  This way i was certain it was correctly installed.  If you check i would bet there is a similar program out there near you.

Put the base in at 36 weeks. It was,a good thing we did, our little girl was born 3 days later. :)

Do it when you feel the need to. I installed mine in my "nesting" stage..... After I scrubbed the floors....and did a mountain of laundry. I'm a firm believer your body will give you signals. Same with packing a bag.

We installed ours when we got it. I want to say I was 34 weeks or so. Didn't want to store it in the house and wanted to get it checked before baby came home

If it's your first baby or you are unsure, I'd say it's better to practice earlier and longer rather than later and for a shorter time.

We didn't do ours until 39 weeks. I had been 4 cm dilated since 37 weeks. I didn't give birth until 41+2. If you get into an accident you have to get an entirely new one. They honestly don't take much effort or time to install so it doesn't have to be done so far in advance in my opinion. If it makes you more comfortable to do it now then do it now! :)

Now.  You could deliver any time now and its a good time to get it in right while you still can and get used to it being there.  It was weird for me at first.
