Am I the only one?

Question

I try to have a good relationship with God. Although I don't go to church, I try to pray everyday and read my bible. Sometimes I just talk out loud to God, like talking to a friend. However I find it difficult to ask him for things. I feel like I need to appreciate everything I have and just be grateful. I am really good about thanking him for all the good in my life. I am just wondering if anyone else feels guilty for asking God for things in life?

Most definitely. But He does not want us to feel that way. He knows the desires of our hearts & although we are so blessed, he wants to continue blessing us!

I do. I have no problem praying for others. But when it comes to me, I feel like I don’t deserve to be asking Him for anything. Because there’s so much going on in the world that my problems seem petty and insignificant so I shouldn’t even bother Him with them...

The only things you need to ask God for are humility and mercy.

He tells us to make our petition known.  He says we have not because we dont ask.  He wants us to ask but also pray on these things without ceasing and in all thing give thanks.  We pray without ceasing because its through these prayers and asking for our desires that the Lord reveals His plan and many times we realize that what we asked for wasnt really what we wanted or needed.  Other times He does give us our desires ... but most importantly its ok to ask but do so through prayer and continue to pray on these things and give thanks.  Its through your relationship with Him that your answers are given and above all thats what He wants, a personal relationship with you.

Amber I felt this same way until I physically started going to church and socializing with other Christians.  It’s important you gather with your brothers and sisters  to worship.

Nope! I give so much gratitude alllll the time so if I’m asking for anything I understand it’s my birth right to have it! He says ask you can shall receive so I’m not sure why you feel you can’t ask for anything... you can ask for literally anything! Sky is the limit.. be content but strive for more.. he wants to give us the world. Have good intentions an he will do the rest 💕

I live a very fortunate life and really try to communicate with him well. I don’t like to ask for personal things that don’t benefit others. I feel like as long as it’s something that is good and it’s for a good intention, it’s okay to ask for something small.
