It’s just a piece of land. Why would anyone feel obligated to defend it or adore it? Hell, it’s just a flag, a piece of cloth. Why would anyone need to pledge allegiance to it?

“The land of the free.” The whole concept of America’s greatness revolves around a concept of freedom that does not exist and an incredibly exaggerated sense of optimism.
