Why is my ultrasound so late??

Okay guys , so I’m 9+5 pregnant and I have yet to even hear my baby heart beat .. I went to my first doctors appointment today and he still didn’t listen to it and says I have to wait another month just to hear the heart beat ... I never knew it took this long and am wondering if anyone else has had this issue... I don’t think I should have to wait until my 2nd trimester just to hear a heart beat let alone get an ultrasound

My dating scan is at 12 wks  Usually you get two at your ob office   12 wks and 20 Wk anatomy scan. They have places were you can pay for more ultrasounds.

I work in an OB/GYN office and in my experience it depends on either the provider or the office’s protocols for dating US. Many offices are trying to cut down on the number of “unnecessary” tests that they order. Many times they only do the initial US if someone has a history of miscarriages, if someone has bleeding, or if someone has no clue how far along they are (due to irregular periods, etc). Many offices tell patients that the only US they will be getting is the 20wk US pending complications.

every doctor is different, mine doesn't do initial ultrasounds unless you've had miscarriages in the past then they will book you for one but they don't do them in their office. I'm 11weeks 3days & still haven't heard the heartbeat. I go back next week for that but it's only with a doppler. I have to wait till July 26th for my ultrasound. which isn't a big deal, I haven't had any problems or complications to indicate anything isn't going as like it should. not all doctors do early ultrasounds but like some of the ladies said you can pay & go get some done of it so give you peace of mind.

My first free dating scan was at 13 weeks. I paid for 2 prior.

Maybe try to go to a private place that does ultrasounds, mine was 45$ and I got to hear the heartbeat and 3 sonogram pictures and i was 8 weeks 6 days.

i had my first "intake" appointment at 9 weeks 4 days and they had no intentions on doing a ultrasound until i told them once we started trying my periods became irregular and they called over to see if i could get seen that day or the next if i said nothing i wouldnt have gotten an ultrasound until june 11th

I was able to get an ultrasound and see the heart beat around 8 weeks, but was told we wouldn’t be able to hear the heart beat until we were closer to 12-13 weeks

I heard my baby’s heart at my first ultrasound which was at 6 weeks. That’s so weird.
