My baby got her 4 month old shots yesterday and started running a fever this afternoon. It’s been fluctuating (101.1 is the highest its gotten); we are treating it with Tylenol and cold compresses. She goes to bed in a hr and typically sleeps for 12 hrs without waking up (we are lucky, I know!) My question is do I need to wake her periodically to check her temp and give her Tylenol? My mother claims she will wake up on her own if her fever continues to get worse, but otherwise I should let her sleep. I get were she’s coming from but 12 hrs is a very long time and that doesn’t feel right. My other concern is getting her to go back to sleep, which is always a 45 min+ production. Also (and maybe I’m over reacting) but I’m pretty sure the sugar used to flavor the Tylenol gets her wired for about an hr after she takes it. I don’t want her to lose sleep from that, especially if the fever will break on it’s own in her sleep if I don’t mess with her. What are yalls thoughts?
