Estrogen starting to surge during period...?

Hey everyone, 
I’ve had Mirena removed recently so I’ve started doing the OPKs at around day 8 of my cycle because I know that it can be pretty irregular in the months after removal. 
So imagine my surprise when I get the flashing happy face on Day 8 of my period (I’ve always had a super long period. Around 9 days)! Is this normal? Can you start your estrogen surge while you’re still on your period? Seems weird...

Oops, should have clarified. I’m using the Clearblue Advanced OPK and it’s showing the flashing smiley (so the estrogen spike rather than the LH surge).

It's actually luteinizing hormone, rather than estrogen. And I've recently started testing earlier and mine were really dark on the last few days of my period but not positive. Then on CD 14 I got a true positive. So I'm guessing LH spikes during period too
