Is it selfish of me?

Question

This is my first pregnancy, my first child. I am a single mother my SO and I broke it off well before I was even 3 months. I quit my job and moved back home. I am allowed to have three people in the room when I am giving birth. My mother. My sister. My best friend who is also my child’s God mother. If My baby’s father shows up he will take the place of my best friend. Is it selfish of me to not tell anyone but those people that I am in labor? Also after he is born, I don’t want visitors for the first 24 hours. Nor do I want pictures posted of him on social media. My family and friends are super excited. Is it selfish of me to not want to share my experience until I feel like I have had enough time with him at least the first day!!!???

It’s your body and your baby whatever you choose is what’s right for you both. Only my husband will be in the room but his parents and mine will be waiting in the lobby but I won’t let anyone back for an hour after our baby is born cause that is our time. And pictures can be taken but absolutely not shared tell I say so! I’m the same I don’t want anything in social media tell I want it to be there, once I post then others are welcome.

The only people that will know I’m in labor will be my mom and dad, my hubby and my sister in law! And only my hubby and sister in law will be in the room. When you’re in labor I don’t consider pretty much anything to be selfish😌 my mom will be pissed she can’t be in the room but for many reasons that’s the way I want it. It was just going to be my hubby but my sister in law and I are very close and she will be my baby’s god mother and she is pregnant now too with her first and I think it would be a great experience for her🤗

I might would let him know. But it absolutely your choice of who you want in the room. And you aren’t obligated to let anyone visit. I’m allowing my baby’s father in the room if he shows up just to give him a chance to be a dad. But so far he hasn’t been involved. Any I’m not allowing visitors for a few hours after birth. I’ve thought about not telling anyone until after the baby is born. It’s more important that you spend time with the baby than a bunch of visitors. So I don’t think it’s selfish at all.

nope. not selfish. we don't want anyone knowing im in labor. especially my husband's aunt because she will show up even though we don't want visitors the first 24 hours (she did it to my husband's cousin ). the only person we want to visit is our first son and whoever will be bringing him to us. #sorrynotsorry

Nope the only people allowed in the room is my Husband and my Mom. No one is allowed at the hospital other than my parents and my husbands parents. I want time with my daughter before I don’t get to touch her because everyone is there. If we didn’t put our foot down EVERYONE would of been in and out before she came. This is our first kiddo and my anxiety is already terrible and I would really hate to go into an anxiety attack because of to many people being there. It’s your kid just remember that! 😊

No, not selfish. I honestly don't want anyone to even know I've given birth until at least a week later. I need time and peace and I don't want people to show up and hold my baby. Just my parents and my sister and brother.....I hope the hospital doesn't allow children to come back to the room either....because of germs. I have 5 nieces and it is so chaotic that I don't think I could handle them coming in trying to hold my newborn hours or even the next day or two after giving birth. I hope they make the kiddos stay in the waiting room. I might ask them discreetly to not allow children

I plan on waiting to have visitors until the next day. I know that I will be recovering. I’m only allowing our parents, siblings, my sister in law, and my significant other in the room for the first day. If hubby wants to post pictures he can, but I plan on waiting. I’m not really into social media altogether.

not at all. I wish I wasn't working so I didn't have to tell my boss and co-workers find out. I had a hard time nursing my son at the hospital and we had a ton of visitors which made it even more difficult to nurse. delivery room will just be my husband and I this time and first day my son will join us only. if I could get away with no visitors I would. plus there has been a small complication with my daughter so I'm not sure if shell be taken away for further testing after she's born. only couple of people know about it and I don't want to have to explain where she's at if guest come. I'm a super private person. and I pretty strict about my son being on social media and I will be the same way with my daughter.

its your body yes, but how i look at it is whats best 4 my child. will they grow up asking daddy if he cut the umbilical cord? for me its about how my child may feel in the future. but i can understand being uncomfortable with someone u are no longer with in the roon with you. prayers to u and baby
