Flying business class while children sit in economy class?

This presenter chose to do it (And Gordon Ramsay too) and was met with backlash.
What would you do?
I would prefer to sit with my kids. I would rather we all sit together in economy class if money was an issue, than be separated. I guess it's a safety and peace of mind thing.
