Summer swimming?

Question

Anybody doing any mommy and me type swim lessons already? Our local gym offers a class for 4 mo to 2 yr olds with a parent. I love water and want my baby to get comfortable in it! But they’re expensive and since it’s more about getting her used to water, I’m wondering if I just take her to the river myself this summer and let her splash with me? Save the official lessons when she’s coordinated enough to really learn swimming? Both options sound super fun. Yay summer! Any mamas thinking about swim lessons?

I pay and go to proper swimming sessions with my 7 month old. On the contrary to what others are saying, it is valuable. Babies learn to kick and when they go under kick to come back to the surface. Have an instructor there is good!

i took my son into the pool with me already & let him float around. however i wouldn’t take my baby to the river as i personally don’t consider the river a safe place for anyone to swim!

I have done them with my LO. I enjoyed them, but were so pricey we will only do them once a year until she is old enough to actually learn. The nice thing is the water was warm enough for babies...typical public pools tend to be too cold for babies I have found

I take the babies to the pool with me, I bought one of these floaters and they love it.
I cannot imagine I would pay for lessons because they don’t do much yet.

I did mommy and baby swim classes with my first. Save your money. It’s a nice to do but not necessary. You’re money is better spent on some baby safe floating ring and going out on your own.
