Is it safe for our December babies to sleep with a big cuddly teddy bear?

I know some babies already sleep with blankets etc. our baby still has a sleep sack and sleeps with very small "cot-friendly" cuddly toys. just wondering whether it's safe at this age to sleep with bigger soft teddies...thanks

Our baby has been sleeping with this arrangement since one year, his pillow is a giant fox, and we’ve never had a problem. He loves snuggling, and slowly demanded certain things be added to his crib at night until he was sufficiently cozy 😂 he also sleeps in the most dangerous looking position in the car, holding his blanket into his face like a reverse pillow, and he’s always fine 🤷🏻‍♀️
A quick google search of suffocation after 1 year of age seems to suggest that the biggest issue would be kids falling between the bed and the wall and getting stuck or not noticing. Of course, I’m hoping to maintain the crib cage for as long as possible 😂

I think it depends on how big we’re talking. Personally anything bigger than a toddler size pillow would be a no for me. Plus, I wouldn’t want a bunch of stuff in there because he moves around so much I’d be worried he’d get himself stuck in an awkward position with it all while he was sleeping. But, I may be a little overly paranoid. 😆 We still haven’t introduced a pillow or blanket at all, he just sleeps in a wearable blanket with legs that I found.

My daughter sleeps in bed with me and basically demands she has a pillow lol she knows her head goes on the pillow and she pulls up the blanket over her legs

Ugh. Mine figured out how to get out of his sleep sack, I was hoping to get away with it much longer but we’ve had to switch to a light blanket. He had a lovey but I was thinking of giving him a larger stuffed animal to snuggle

I think too big where it takes up a lot of room in the crib would probably be too much. I know my kids are all over their crib at night turning and flipping upside-down. They have a small blanket, a small bear from Grandma and a small sheep that usually stays in 1 corner but they do good and cuddle with the bear every night. I didn't plan on introducing a pillow until closer to 3y.o or when they actually lay in 1 direction at night lol

We let our 18 month old go to sleep with two toddler pillows, an emoji pillow, a lovey,  a baby doll most nights and sometimes a stuffed animal that’s about half her size too. Oh and a blanket.... so it’s a full crib but she loves it and it hasn’t been a problem. I suppose I’ll ask at her 18mo appointment next week just to double check. But soon she’ll be in a toddler bed and drag whatever she wants into bed with her so why not let her have what she wants now? 🤷🏼‍♀️
