Dog Question- off topic

Not sure where I should post this, but was wondering if anyone here had experience with beagles? A friend has a puppy that is needing to be rehomed. My husband and I have an 18 month old and are TTC #2. We own our home and have no other pets. We do live in town and go for a 1 hour walk daily. Would a beagle be a good fit for us? Are they generally safe with children? My main concern would be aggression/intolerance towards toddlers. Any info would be appreciated.
