I personally waited until my 20 week scan as hard as it was. The sex will be a lot more obvious by then. I will wait until 20 weeks with this pregnancy as well. 
My friend paid for a private scan with her second Baby in the hopes for a Girl as she already had a Boy, they told her it was a Girl. She was so excited! told everyone and starting going Pink crazy only to be told at her 20 week scan it was a Boy. She has two sons now and was heartbroken at the time. 
It’s always put me off and made me less impatient.

For my sister and sister in law ultrasounds were not accurate for gender almost up until they gave birth. But it’s always nice to see the baby one more time if you have to wait for a few weeks otherwise.
