Not sure why these people are saying yes...it is absolutely not needed to pump unless you’ll be going back to work, which even then they say only start once a day about 2 weeks before. Lactation consultants actually recommend holding off on pumping until your supply has regulated or you could risk an oversupply (which can lead to clogged ducts, mastitis etc). Unless there’s a specific reason to pump, keep feeding on demand! 👍🏻

Or are trying to build a supply for when the child goes to day care.

It’s not needed but I’d do it because you never know what could happen. It might suddenly dry up and unless you have formula ready, you might need some. Or you might decide to go out for a few hours and need some extra milk for babysitter

just depends. my son has been BF since birth but went on a boob stroke at 1 month before finding out he had a lip tie so i pumped then and then he's now back on breast and refuses bottles most of the time but i now produce ALOT so i still have to pump atleast once a day inbetween him feeding

I didn’t start pumping until my baby was like 6 weeks old. And one morning it was because I woke up with rock hard titties that we’re leaking and hurting and so I put a pump on one and the baby on the other and pumped even after he was done and still got like 20 oz out. It was ridiculous. Then I knew that I was going back to work and made it a daily thing so I could build a supply for when I went back to work so the husband could feed him. So it really depends on your situation and your goals for feeding.

I think it’s personal preference. I did when I was engorged. I was great to get relief and nice to stock up and freeze it for when you need it.

No. I'm breastfeeding my soon 15 months old and I never pumped.

It’s not necessary. I think most moms do it to have extra just in case since you can freeze it. That way once you get to the point where you are comfortable leaving baby with someone, they have milk to feed from a bottle. 
Also you may find that your breasts fill up quicker than what baby needs. You can always donate if you don’t end up using it.
