I have started to take the progesterone birth control pill for almost three weeks now. I took it the first day of my period I have spotted now for a while but it's only a small amount. is that normal?

Yes. Progesterone only methods are most known for causing irregular bleeding/spotting. This can include longer time frames with or without bleeding, random bleeding, or frequent bleeding, at any given time. And, such irregular bleeding is especially common during the first 3-6 months while ur body is adjusting to the birth control.
