Do winter newborns need shoes?

I’m due with my first baby December 13th and I’m wondering if I need boots or some type of footwear to keep his/her feet warm. I’m currently living in Finland and winter is a super cold and windy time. We walk outside and use trains/busses constantly (no need for a car in the city) so I just want to make sure that I can be prepared! Without boots won’t their little toes be cold?!

thick socks and booties should do it. as baby won't be walking , just thick socks and any regular booties should do it.

In northern Norway many use “shoes” like this. And lots of wool in general.

You don't  need them. Some good wool socks over stockings and such will be good. You could get soft booties if you wanted, but they aren't  always easy to put on when they are newborn.

I’d find a pair of moccasins and thick wool socks to keep your babys toes warm. As long as you have your baby some thick pants a jacket and maybe an insulated car seat cover he/she should be cozy
