How long do you keep a tampon up there?

I just started using tampons and I want to avoid the changes of getting TSS. 
I am currently using Rite aids super tampons (I’m pretty sure they ate the same as any regular super absorbency tampon) and would like to know how long I should keep it up there.

So general rule if the tampon resists it's not ready to come out. the time will depend in your flow. My early days it's bout 8 hrs with super (4 with regular) during my heavy days it's 3 with super (Don't use regular) and on really heavy days it's 1 to 2 hrs with super. Another way to help not get tss is to use the lightest size possible.

All tampons say you should not keep them in for 8+ hours, Although  TSS is rare. But also take into consideration the flow of your period. If it’s light.. maybe avoid tampons or use light ones.
