WATER BIRTH? good idea? bad idea?

hey ladies, I'm currently 37 weeks with my little prinny, and I'm hoping for a water birth after what I can only describe as a HORRIFIC experience with my first baby. so I was wondering ladies who have had one, what are the pros and cons? did you have a good or bad experience? also did you manage to actually give birth in the water or just use it to labour in? thanks for your time 😊 x

I dilated so fast after I came to the hospital that I didn't get the chance to labor in the tub, although I still was in water on the shower floor! I then birthed in the tub which was great. no ring of fire and a very calm atmosphere
my next baby is due next month and I hope she stays head down so I can do it again.

Definitely good idea!!! I would not have been able to function without a water birth! I had a 2 hour or so labour, meaning my contractions were literally constant, there was a max of 2 seconds apart and being in the water actually helped! Firstly, I felt way more relaxed, I could never imagine myself lay on a bed with my legs spread. At least with a water birth my dignity is at least a little bit still there because they couldn’t see my down below area as vivid! They brought over the gas and air to the pool so at least you can still have that. Although the downside is if you want a epidural you have to get out of the pool - I didn’t even have time to have one but I would’ve. Then even better... your beautiful baby comes out nice and clean! And then is placed on your chest and it’s an amazing feeling. I think the baby prefers it too cause obviously it’s like coming out but being still in the womb!
