15mo old constantly being woken by gas

My 15mo old wakes up regularly throughout the night & it often seems to have to do with gas, as he wakes up fussing & squirming then relaxes after I hear him pass gas (which often happens once he starts nursing-- he wants to nurse & I've noticed the sucking seems to help him pass gas, & he only nurses for a couple minutes). This just doesn't seem normal. I don't even know how many times a night he wakes up. He doesn't seem to have gas issues during the day. He is still breastfed & also eats pretty well on solids. Anyone have thoughts? We have his 15mo checkup this coming week & I will be asking his pediatrician, too. This is really burning me out & making me want to stop breastfeeding :(
