Am I a bad parent?

I currently have one step child and one biological child. My husband and I are financially in a place where we are ready for a NICE vacation. We haven't been on a nice vacation since our honeymoon!!! I am DYING for a tropical vacation with my husband. No kids. But my husband thinks that it's not far to the kids and that we should go on a family vacation that is kid friendly 😑. Is it mean of me that I don't want a family vacation? I wanna be in a skimpy bikini with my husband. I wanna get drunk. I wanna have a lot of sex with my husband. I need adult time!!!! My husband keeps making me feel like I am a bad mom for not wanting a family vacation. Am I a bad parent?

Nope you are definitely entitled to adult vacation so don’t feel bad maybe talk about doing a smaller vacation with the kids later.

Is there a way instead of 1 big vacation that you can do 2 smaller ones? 1 adult only vacation for a couple days and 1 kid friendly vacation for a couple days?

No! My parents used to go away on trips without my brothers and I. They went for a week every 4/5 years and we stayed with family, went to summer camps or something like that. We had fun without them and they got to just be together. My brothers and I certainly were not negatively affected in any way. It probably helped keep their marriage such an amazing one too which I think helped them be better parents. I honestly have the most incredible parents and am so lucky to have them. They took a week to be a couple and the rest of the time they were focused on us and ensuring we had the best life they could provide.
Now if you were constantly going on trips without your kids and leaving them alone all the time then yeah Id say that's a bad parent. But one single vacation away from your kids doesn't make you a bad parent at all. I certainly plan to do this once my SO have kids.

Not at all! Couples need time away from the kids too. 95% of your time is about the kids. You guys need that alone time to keep things healthy.

I think that more people need to put each other as priorities in a marriage /relationship that includes children. You two need time as a couple, alone.

tell him that.... He should understand. Tell him that it’ll be only for a weekend or couple of days ... And ur kids will be at a babysitters house so there’s no need to worry or go to a kid friendly place lol.

Look into one of the all inclusive type places that have kid centers and lots of activities. You can sign the kids up for kid time and you guys can have a date night! Lots of cruises and resorts do this.

This doesn't equate to bad parenting I'm sure most parents feel this way. I could be wrong but it sounds like the family haven't been on vacation if this is the case I can see your SO point of view as well. Maybe plan a small trip for the family not too far away and your couples trip. But I totally get it we're more than just moms and wives.

Nope I was totally feeling the same way we are going away for my birthday this year I’ll be 40 ☺️ I feel guilty sometimes thinking about it and my husband says I need this little vacation I know my husband and I need our time together alone no children and a bunch of free sex and 🍷 alcohol .....
