By when should I have a name picked out?

I am 28+5 and have no idea what my daughter's name will be. A long list of random names, but no clue as yo if I will even use any on the list because I want her name to be perfect.

in my country (new zealand) you have 3months to pick out a name and register it... I no people that have gone a month or two with out a name for their baby....

Some people have names picked out for years before their bfp, others during pregnancy and some don’t have a name until after the baby is born. Some states allow you to leave the hospital without a name too. Choose a name that feels right and take your time 😊 
My first child we didn’t have a name until the last month of pregnancy
My second child we knew her name the moment I tested
My miscarriage we had a long list but nothing set
Now this baby I’m 18 weeks and I think we decided on the name

My brother and Sister in law chose when their children were born. Some people just need to see their sweet baby before choosing and that’s totally fine! I chose all mine prior to birth but everyone is different

There’s no set time when you ‘should’ have a name picked out. I have ideas, a few ones I like more than others, but probably won’t pick it until she’s born

We had our list narrowed down and when our son was born we looked at him and both just knew. If your not sure wait and meet your LO first.

There’s no perfect time to have the name picked out, it really depends on when you have found the ‘right’ name. 
I’ve been searching for the ‘right’ name before i even conceived. I really felt I wanted to get the name before having baby. At 27 weeks pregnant we picked it the name. 
However I know a lot of people wait until they see the baby, they want to see ‘what the baby looks like’ or some keep a short list of a few names and pick out the one after birth.

I named my son 3 days after he was born and my daughter 2 days after she was born.

We have a boy name picked out (my husband loved it years ago, before we even met). If it’s a girl, we have a few first and middle names, but we decided that unless we both randomly fall in love with one sooner, we won’t decide until after birth.
