Do you lock your kids in their room at night? Do you agree with people that do?

I have a very active 2 year old and a newborn coming soon, so we’re moving to a 2 bedroom apartment and the 2 year old will have his own room soon. This has made us question if we can or are even allowed to close his door at night. We personally won’t lock the door but some people don’t see a difference. I think it’s ok if you have some sort of baby monitor, but I’ve heard people fully lock their child in or they will wander the house at night and get into trouble. I’d love to hear your opinions and reasoning for locking or not! No attacking anyone please, let’s keep this a safe open topic with no hatred :)
