Unblocking an ex?

So my ex bf and I broke up about 2 months ago. I blocked him on Whatsapp and SC. Lately I have been wanting closure for our relationship and an the idea of unblocking him on Whatsapp popped into my head. I know this does not guarantee that he will talk to me and say anything but I wanted to know your thoughts on it ? Has anyone ever unblocked an ex and then gotten a message from them? How did it go?
