my two cats are house cats and only go in garden once a day or so meaning they're unlikely to carry that disease that's dangerous to pregnant women and im 7 weeks pregnant, I'd wear gloves so it ok for me to empty it?

Yes it's ok for you to empty it as long as you wear gloves and wash your hands. I have 4 cats and my SO changed the cat litter when I was pregnant, none of my cats go outside but that doesn't play a roll. Cat litter holds a parasite called toxoplasmosis. You most likely have already caught it, and once you have it one time you develope an immunity to it. The dangers of it is giving it to your unborn child, so If you have to change the cat litter just wear gloves and wash your hands. You shouldn't have any problems if you just follow those two steps.

I changed the cats litter my whole pregnancy. She is strictly an indoor cat and I'm sure she and I would of caught toxo at some stage (I adopted her from a rescue and I've lived in a home of 15 cats). Just wear gloves and change the litter once or twice a day. If your cat did catch it, its poop would come infectious after 24 hours. So clean it before then and there's no risk. I have a perfectly healthy 3 month old.

my doctor tested me for toxoplasmosis antibodies and found I had already been infected some time before pregnancy. maybe your doc can check you?

I’m having this issue. Just found out I’m expecting and my husband is about to be deployed. I read you can wear rubber gloves and make sure to wash your hands and the gloves very well after. I’m also going to pick up a couple doctors masks.. idk if that will help or not, but it’s what I’m doing.
