C section or natural birth ?

I get the choice and I don't know much about c sections but I'm thinking it will be less stress on myself and baby. my first pregnancy our son was stillborn and I had a horrendous birth so now thinking about a c section. Any ideas tips etc please

I am a student midwife and normally would absolutely advocate trying for a vaginal delivery, BUT in this situation I would do whatever you are feeling more comfortable with. Are you in contact with a therapist who can help you work through this decision? Having a vaginal delivery *can* be incredibly redemptive and healing, but it can also be extremely triggering. I imagine you probably carry some PTSD from your traumatic birth and the loss of your little one and those thing can be extremely difficult to reckon with during labor. You deserve to have a beautiful, peaceful, redemptive birth and if you're already feeling stressed out at the thought of another vaginal birth, I'd be tempted to tell you to pursue a cesarean. However, I do think you'd benefit from talking to a therapist, your OB and your partner about your options. If you think you can create a space that feels safe and secure and you trust your care team and your body, you are absolutely entitled to trying a vaginal birth. One difficult birth doesn't mean they all will be (just like one easy birth doesn't mean they'll  all be easy!). I sincerely hope that whatever you choose, you will feel safe, supported and will come out of your birth experience feeling empowered. You so deserve it. You have to do what makes you the most comfortable. I’m always an advocate for vaginal BUT you have to weigh your options and if you feel the care-section is the way to go do it. And don’t let anyone try to make you feel bad or try to change your mind no matter what you decide.

Most doctors do not give you the choice as that is a form of surgery. I would take into consideration the fact that they are give you that as an option and maybe there is a medical reason for this. If you are still unsure discussing this with your doctor. Everyone on here can give you their opinion however they do not know your medical background or why it was suggested in the first place. You’re a mom, follow you own instincts, you’ll know what’s best in the end for you and your baby! ❤️

I would go for natural but I will need a repeat c section.
