Yes. In fact some women never produce enough HCG right off to be detected. And then later in pregnancy there's too much of the hormone for an HPT to chemically bind or "sandwich" to, it basically oversaturates the chemical process in the test and comes back negative. Same goes with multiples. It's not every case, obviously, but too much HCG can cause negative tests just like diluted HCG. Blood work would be your best bet. Best luck and baby dust xox

I didn't get a positive result untill i knew I was having boy 10 years ago with my son. I had to get blood work done. I just knew I was.
