Every time my boyfriend and I talk about our childhood he criticises my parents for working a lot when I was a kid. Apparently his parents arranged their work around school times so they are always home when he was home. I grew up very poor and my family was at work most the time to be able to afford to live. My parents often didn’t eat in able to ensure my sister and I could eat. I explained this to him and he said “that’s not good enough, they should just get a different job” as if it’s that easy and doesn’t seem to understand how difficult it can be. He seems to constantly criticise my parents and the way I was brought up and it really bothers me as my parents work so so hard to ensure my sister and I could have the best life possible. Has anyone else experienced this? Also does anyone have any advice as to how I can explain it better to him? Thank you
