IUD??

Question

I’m 17 and going tomorrow to get my nexplanon taken out because I have been bleeding basically non stop for MONTHS. I’m pretty set on getting an IUD instead. Any advice or recommendations for what I should get? And what will the procedure be like? I’m going with my mom and my gynecologist is awesome but I’m still slightly nervous

I had a Mirena after my third was born. I bled the whole three months I had it in, couldn’t have sex at all because I felt it poking me (mostly because I have a tilted cervix/uterus most women don’t have that problem.) the procedure was pretty simply. They give you a shot in your cervix to open it, and place the IUD. There is another IUD that recently came out it’s similar to the Mirena but more flexible it’s called “skyla”. I’d give that a try. I wouldn’t get a copper IUD. One friend of mine who had one kept getting pregnant with it, and then miscarrying, and the other friend had hers implant into the uterus and now she has pretty bad scarring. Everyone has a different experience, and what doesn’t work for someone will work great for someone else. I’d look into the skyla.

i only had experience getting my implant taken out not an IUD.. its a quick painless procedure and their will be bruising after wards , don't shower or get it wet for up to 2 days , but the bandage only needs to be on for 24 hours after the procedure ... i still have a slight dot that's a scar from where they cut so you may or may not have a mark after wards .. good luck
