Toddler screaming “ow” “no” and “stop”

My toddler is going to get me in trouble I swear 😩😩 she’s 2 1/2 and EVERYTIME I send her to time out, she screams “Ow! No! Stop!” And sometimes please along with it. I swear it probably sounds like we are beating her the way she screams. I know for a fact she’s not in pain, she just stands there and screams that until you let her out. Any advice?

I’ve tried the “when you calm down, you can come out” or waiting until she calms down but she never does
