UPDATE!

He has finally filed for divorce!!! We still don't know where she lives. We have a general idea. We will be placing an ad in the paper and if she does not respond, it will still go through! He will officially be divorced May 4th! We are getting married May 5th!

Okay, so I’m going to sound like a dumb ass. And maybe I am, but here we go.

I have been with my fiancé for 3 years. We now have a child together. Have lived with one another since basically the very beginning.

We met through a mutual friend and remained friends for months before going on our first official date.

I was aware he was married, but had been separated from his wife for over 2 years. Apparently, they had completed the paperwork to file for divorce, he paid the fees and she said she signed the papers and sent them off. Months later, come to find out, she never submitted the signed papers. I’m not sure the exact process, so please feel free to let a girl know.

Fast forward 6 months. She had moved to another country. We live in California. Was supposed to be there long term. Stayed 3 months and came back. He has tried to contact her unsuccessfully. I know there is a way to file without her signature or being served. I believe he has to post it for a certain amount of time in a public notification.

Any who, here we are, three years later, living together, engaged with a baby, but I can’t marry him until he actually gets a divorce. He always makes excuses. He doesn’t have the money. We have more important things to spend the money on. He can’t locate her. He got the paperwork, but still has to do this or that. It’s always something!

I just don’t know what to do anymore! I love him, but I’m afraid he’s never going to get a divorce and that hurts me because it makes me feel like he doesn’t actually want to be with me long term.
