Gown for 1st prenatal visit?

When going in to your first prenatal appt do you wear a gown? This maybe silly! But I always have trouble putting one on. The worst was when I was 14 and it was backwards!

Your first appointment might be just paperwork in which case you stay fully dressed. 
If they do an exam (which could be first or second appointment) they will either have you undress from the waist down and give you just a paper sheet to cover yourself so they can do a pelvic exam including a Pap smear and std check if needed and possibly a transvaginal ultrasound. If they plan to also do a breast exam they will have you undress completely and put on a gown. In this case it will likely be a gown with the opening at the front. But they should tell you exactly how much you need to undress and which way the gown should open.

My very first one was a orientation so they just gathered medical family history my medical history etc etc my next one was a papsmere then an ultrasound. I didn't need a gown for any of them just undressed from the waist down (besides my ultrasound). every place is different though!

They gave me a pelvic and breast exam at my first appointment so I needed a gown. Not everyone does. Just ask for help if you need it!

At my first appointment I was 8 weeks. They took me straight back to do a transvaginal ultrasound first. I kept my top on, and they stepped out while I removed my pants and underwear and covered up with the sheet they provided. After the US I got dressed and went to another room to meet with the doctor. Again, I got undressed from the waist down and covered up with a sheet before the doctor came in.

My 1st appointment I had to get completely undressed and put the gown on with it open in the front and I was giving a sheet to cover up with. My doc does a pap smear, cervix check, abdomen check, breast exam, I also had to give blood, and I got a sonogram. I love my doc office because I can get everything done there except the glucose test, but All offices are different.
