To induce or not to induce....??

Question

39 weeks and a day today. No risks & doctor said I can induce next Monday at 40 weeks, which she recommends, but she also said I could choose not to.
They think the baby will be over 9 lbs but they said that with my first and she was 7lb4oz at 39 weeks. 
Not sure what to do. I’m afraid induction will lead to a c section but she acted like that’s not true. 
Any advice?

Being medically induced does not lead to a higher risk of C Sections. There has been a ton of research in this area over the last 5 years. Actually the opposite, there is a higher rate of a c section post 40 weeks. 
Talk to your doctor about your fears and read trusted sources on the topic, but research does not sure being induced leading to a higher rate of C Section.

If there is no medical reasoning, I'd probably wait until 42 weeks to induce

In my opinion I would not induce unless absolutely necessary. My son was born at 40+5 weeks and he was 9 pounds but we didn’t know that until he was born, I had zero complications during labor and delivery. An induction will increase a risk for a csection. The pitocin induced contractions are much harsher and stronger than natural contractions. I say wait and maybe at 41 weeks if you’re still pregnant weigh the pros and cons again (that was going to be my plan if I went that long) 
But with all of that said it is completely your body, baby, and choice. Best of luck on everything ❤️

personally I would induce... already spoke with my doctor about it. he doesn't like his patients going over 41 weeks anyway so we agreed on inducing should I be late

I would wait. My midwife told me today that 85% of babies come by 41 weeks. so as long as mom and baby are healthy, you might as well wait to see if baby will come on it’s own 🙂

I was induced 2 weeks after my due date. 31 hours of induced labor... sucked... My baby girl was 8'11. This time I'm going for an all natural labor. Good luck mom! I hope your labor is easy ❤
