do you breastfeed and pump at same time

so I over produce. my newborn is 2 weeks old and when I pump I get 5+ onces after feeding from each breast. if I'm exclusively breastfeeding the other breast sprays everywhere until I switch sides. has anyone had success pumping and feeding at the same time ? haven't tried doing it yet but wanted others input first.

Never tried it. But I never leaked either, I know people use the hakaa to collect from the opposite breast.

i never pump while breastfeeding but pump a bit after feeding when i first starting pumping (only pump twice a day now) but whenmy opposite side stayed leaking i would press on my nipple just enough to put pressure to get it to stop leaking and I've found that the pressure of wearing breast pads suppresses from leaking a river while feeding. i over produce so much i donate 250 ounces every2 weeks so i know your struggle! I slowly worked with my body to now i only pump right when i wake up and pump until nothing else comes out. then 1-2 more times during the day when i feel like im getting slightly engorged ( still getting about 25 ounces a day if not a little more)

You should try the Milkies Milk-saver! I had an overproduction issue with my first and pumping only made it worse. I switched to the milk-saver and was able to amp down my production enough to not feel super uncomfortable all the time. It's essentially a silicone container that you place over the breast that baby is not nursing on and it collects the letdown from that side for use later.

When I nurse I use the Haakaa pump on the other side. It’s a suction pump that will draw out and catch your milk. Look into it!

I always pumped while breastfeeding because I over produced as well. I would nurse him from one side and pump the other side because he never needed to switch sides then I would switch sides at the next feeding and pump the other one while he fed from the recently pumped one.

I did when my daughter was little! I got a ton of milk every time I pumped while nursing. way more than pumping without her attached to the other boob.
it's a lot easier to do when they're little than when they think it's fun to pull on cords and kick bottles lol :)

I am not talented enough to pump while feeding. My sons hands are everywhere and I’m sure we would spill something 😂
