Genetic Screening?

Question

Are you guys doing any of the optional testing? If so, which ones are you doing? I need to decide about the integrated scan ASAP. 
I am leaning towards not doing it because I am not going to do much different if I find out there is a chance of problems... but I’m not totally decided.

I’m 21+1 with di/di twin boys here. I opted out of the screening for a few reasons.
1. I have high anxiety and felt it would hinder my pregnancy if I knew what was wrong or the possibility of anything being wrong through out the whole pregnancy and the results aren’t conclusive without an amniocentesis.
2. Because the results are not guaranteed without an amnio and I was against having an amnio done due to the risks of miscarriage I felt the test was pointless for me.
3. I would have only done just the NT ultrasound scan and blood work and the blood work would have for fun just to know early on what my babies were but the results are not 100% and can only tell you what the genders are if both of them were the same etc. So I would have had to wait for a later ultrasound to confirm their genders anyway. 
These are the reasons I opted out. No matter the results (which aren’t 100%) I wouldn’t have aborted my children, and if they have anything such as spinalbifida I would have waited until they were born to treat the condition anyway. And most likely something that drastic would be detected through a scan anyway. I don’t regret opting out at this point either. I know it’s scary because you have to make such a big decision in such a small window of time. But if it helps I have no regrets after all the reasons I chose not to at this point.

Did it the first time and NOT doing it this pregnancy. Worst week of my life waiting for the blood test results. Don’t need added anxiety and worries for no reason while pregnant!! The scan gave my babe like a 1/90 (low I know) chance of having DS because of her small nose. Blood test cane back normal after a week. But that added stress was terrible! I cried all day for a week. Not doing it again! She still has a small nose 2 years later. So do I. Ugh 😑

I’m having it done. Currently waiting on blood work results, ultrasound is next week. Hubby and I are starting to get old (in fertility terms) and just found out my sister is a carrier for a couple of the diseases they test for.

I plan to do it, but not for termination reasons (everyone’s assumption)... because if I know baby will likely be born with special needs, that will change my choice of which hospital to deliver at (due to NICU services, specialists available, surgery options, etc).

Unless recommended by the doctor, I wouldn’t do it. If something abnormal shows up on your ultrasound, it is perfectly fine to believe that your baby is healthy. Besides, not a lot of insurances will cover it if it’s not recommended by a doctor with an abnormal ultrasound.

I did the quad screening just because both of my parents are adopted so we have no idea of family history. that's the only thing so far that's I've been offered that was optional and I'm 29 weeks.

I did all that they offered. My fiancé is from a third world country and I wanted to ensure there was nothing genetic we should be aware of since he wasn’t sure of his family history

I personally did the test because I got to see my lil one and possibly finding out the sec through the cell free DNA test they offer at my doctors office.
