12 week scan, is this normal??

I went for my first scan yesterday at 12+1 weeks, but baby measuring at 10+6. Baby has a strong heartbeat but I can't help but worry. I guess what my question is, is it normal for baby to be measuring small?

Yess! It’s all just a educated guess on how far along exactly you are!! My baby in the first 18 weeks was measuring 2-3 days small and then suddenly measuring 2-3 days larger after 18 weeks. It’s all really just a rough estimate because they don’t actually know when your body ovulated and then when sperm met egg or when baby implanted. It’s all just based off of your last period and the “averages” on when those things typically happen not when your body actually did them.

Because its your first scan I wouldnt worry. If it was your second and they measured correctly at your first, Id start worrying. I thought I was 7 weeks pregnant when they measured me at 5 weeks. You dont get pregnant the day you have sex. It can take awhile for the egg and sperm to do their thing.

Well since it was your first ultrasound I'd say your dating was off. 
You coukd have ovulated later then you though even if your tracking. 
I had my first ultrasound at 7 weeks but baby was measuring 6 weeks.

My daughter measured a week and a half behind until my 3rd trimester

I'd say don't worry. My coworker thought she was at 10 weeks and went for a daring scan. Baby measured at 6. Now shes well into her second trimester and while mom may be ill baby is totally fine

i was measuring a week behind on my 12week scan he was meausring at 11weeks. went on to have a healthy baby who is now 5years old!

I think it’s only concerning if it’s more than a two week difference. My son grew in growth spurts. He measured oct 3rd then jumped to Oct 10th and by the end up my pregnancy be measured Sept 7th. I’ve kinda had the same thing this pregnancy. I’ve measure from Nov 18th to Dec 1st. Sometimes it the baby’s position

My first had a 10 day difference which is very common she was born on time with no complications and she caught up by 30 weeks or so. Now she’s in the 98th percentile for height and weight at almost 3 years old so don’t worry

I went for an early scan and measured a week behind:) I think anything up to like 2 weeks is pretty normal - something to do with when the egg was actually released :)
