Is he too old for me?

I’m 20 years old and want to go out with a 35 year old guy who also seems into me. He has a 5 year old son that he has told me about and has nothing to do with his sons mom anymore. Everyone I know has told me to go out with him but I don’t know if 15 years is too big of an age gap.

You’re 20. It doesn’t really matter because you can do what you want. I personally wouldn’t want to be with someone 15 years older than me at this stage of life. I’m also 20. I wouldn’t, but it’s up to you.

I’m 35. I would date 15 years older now, and I have. At this time of my life it doesn’t matter. We’d both have established careers and done having kids. 
At age 20? That’s a giant age gap in terms of where you are in life. Age matters less the older you get. At 20 your life is hugely different than it will even be at 25. It’s a transformative time of your life. I think if you do, it’s less likely to succeed.
That being said, you are both consensual adults. Not my circus, not my monkeys

It’s not a one size fits all thing- It’s really up to you as individuals. Are you at similar life stages? Are you willing to make sacrifices for his child (ie amount of time you’ll be able to spend alone together)? Have you discussed what sort of involvement you will have with his child? Is he supportive of where you are at in terms of your life goals?

As a 34 year old I’m at a very different place to where I was at 20 and don’t think the age gap would have worked. At 20 I was busy with friends, studying, travelling and having fun. Now I’m more focused on building my family and career. A rare night out means getting home before 11pm. Everyone is completely different so this may not be the case for you.

I’m 20 and my boyfriend is 32. So that’s a 12 year age gap. I say go for it if you really want to. We haven’t been together for ages, but he is my soulmate. We do have our ups and downs, but it’s worth it because we love each other. We are at different stages in life. He’s ready to settle down with a career and start baby making and I’m only just beginning mine and still have a lot of growing up to do before I could even entertain the idea of children. I still live with my mom and don’t pay most of the bills and don’t even know how to do my own laundry. Meanwhile, he lives on his own and takes care of himself quite well. We have two very different mindsets but in the end I wouldn’t want to spend my life with anyone else and we do plan to get married as soon as I get my shit together. 
It’s not easy breezy, but it’s also not a dumb relationship that I see going nowhere. Dating someone 12 (or 15) years older than you is a bit of a risk and one that many can be opposed to. My bf doesn’t have kids while your potential suitor has a 5 year old. That makes things a little more complicated for you. However, don’t knock it til you try it. I’m proud to be with my boyfriend and no matter the judgement (and there’s plenty) I don’t let it get in the way of my happiness. 
I got lucky and found my soulmate so for me our relationship is really serious and I don’t mind the compromises, but you seem on the fence about dating him so I would just see where it goes. Give it a chance. It doesn’t hurt to try and if it doesn’t work out then that’s okay. You’re young and you’ll bounce back. You’ll have plenty of opportunities besides him. But you also may find that you don’t need them because of him. It’s your call in the end, but I see no issue with the age gap.

Honestly just depends on how you feel about him. Don’t let other people tell you what’s right for you because only you know. I was born in 97 him 87 we still have a beautiful connection. Now, there are times when he feels like we disconnect because of our age but it’s up to both of you to accept that. I jokingly call him grandpa because I had to explain some of the slang people use these days but he has also had to explain why/when I should stand up for myself in a work place. If you like him go for it.....
