Should I start Keto diet while TTC?

I keep wanting to start it but we are in the middle of trying to conceive.

my sister in law got pregnant while doing keto. she changed up her diet some after she found out she was pregnant.

I accidentally clicked no but meant to hit yes 🙈 I mean of course talk to your doctor but we actually started it to help us conceive! It helped me loose 35 pounds to be a more “ideal/healthy” weight which is proven to assist fertility plus The low carb,/ decreased consumption of refined sugars has been proven to help with fertility as well!!! Side note: My ovarian cysts have actually shrunk on my scans and my endometriosis Symptoms have declined! Baby dust and good luck with keto if you decide to go that route!

I started and I'm TTC. Make sure to ask your doc.. I know once you get pregnant you have to alter it some, but I wanted to drop a few lbs before I got pregnant. I'm already down 5! 😊

I’d speak to a doctor. It’s extremely low carb and while a lot of people find that to be helpful, it doesn’t work for everyone as it could cause issues in your blood sugar, protein in your urine etc. As someone in active recovery from an eating disorder, I prefer simply eating clean and balanced meals with exercise rather than fad diets (they usually trigger me to go from limiting one thing to limiting two things to “forgetting” to eat). While fad diets usually work quickly, it’s not sustainable whereas simply focusing on proper portion sizes for all food groups and focusing on veggies, fruits and lean proteins may take a bit, but will show you lasting results when you add exercise into the mix. Noooo!!! Your pregnant body needs carbs!! Keto diet does not allow carbs! I had to quit keto when I found out. Keto is not super healthy to begin with, so it is recommended to quit the diet while pregnant.
