How often do you talk to your SO throughout the day?

So my bf and i recently broke up/took a break because we have some things we need to figure out separately in our lives right now. I miss talking to him highly (we do still talk just not as often now obviously) and when i told my best friend how much we talked in a day, she thought I was crazy. He’s not one that likes to be on his phone often but he’d make the sacrifice to make me happy and I enjoyed talking to him a lot. We’d text morning until night every single day from the day we started talking about two years ago, just straight conversation the entire day with really no breaks in between. Was I suffocating him a bit? I thought it was normal to talk that much when you’re dating someone but my best friend said no, you shouldn’t be talking THAT much in a single day. If we get back together in the future, could anyone provide me some feedback on just how much I should be talking to him in a single day? Like I said, to me that often I thought was normal but apparently not. Just curious, thanks.
