Ectopic Pregnancy
Hello everyone. I posted a thread on Tuesday listing some of the symptoms I was having and it turns out that I am pregnant. I took two at home pregnancy tests that both appeared to be positive but just to make sure, my boyfriend and I paid a visit to the minute clinic at CVS. I took yet another pregnancy test there (this one being tested differently) and it came out positive. I am five weeks. The consultant had me lay down on the table and she felt around my stomach. Keep in mind, I had already been having cramps for about a week and a few days. They were not severe, just mild. Sometimes they would be in the very middle of my stomach and sometimes they would be on my side. I tensed up the slightest bit when she was pushing down near my ovary on my right side and the first thing she said was “Oh, not that concerns me.” This is my first pregnancy and hearing that made my heart drop. She said I was not going to like what she had to say next but she told me that I needed to go to the hospital after I left the clinic to get tested for an Ectopic pregnancy just because I had been having a little tenderness and cramping in one side. It had only been going on for a day or two and it comes and goes. I have not been nauseated, dizzy, and I have not been bleeding. I still went to the emergency room because I began to panic. I was there for three hours. I had an external ultrasound and an internal ultrasound. When they were putting pressure on the side that had been bothering me with the internal ultrasound piece, it caused a little discomfort, not so much pain. I waited for my results and they told me they could not really see much of anything but that they thought they did in the uterus. They told me to come back within 48 hours because my hormone levels should have doubled (they took my blood to test for that as well) and that they should be able to tell me. They also mentioned they saw a very minimal amount of blood in my pee that even I couldn’t see, which is normal and I shouldn’t worry. I was told by most of the nurses that I am probably just experiencing stretching cramps. As of right now, I am panicking and I have been so sick to my stomach thinking about the worst case scenario. I called my gynecologist as well and they told me not to schedule an appointment for 3-4 weeks because they won’t be able to see anything, so I am curious as to why the E.R told me to come back within 48 hours if they couldn’t even see the sac. I am terrified. Has anyone else had this problem or scare? My cramps are not severe. I’m able to sleep at night. I’m not taking medication for mild cramps. The pain comes and goes in BOTH sides, one more so than the other sometimes. I am hoping to find some comforting words and reassurance because I have to wait until tomorrow night to find out if I can have this child. I am praying they do not tell me that they can’t see anything again. I also heard about some type of cyst that can form to support your hormones in the early stages of pregnancy. I’m not sure if they could have seen it in the ultrasound they did on me just the other day but has anyone experienced that? Where exactly does it form? I heard it can be somewhat painful if it is large and it can cause cramping.
