Is it crazy to anyone else that my stepdaughter's mother is more excited for me than my own mom?

I met my husbands ex girlfriend (mother of his daughter) towards the end of 2011, didn't exactly get along for 2-3 years, anytime we'd have a text conversation it was strictly about the daughter and now, we tend to have random conversations like once or twice a week. My husband jokes around that we're best friends (even though he knows I can only stand to be around the mother so long before getting annoyed).
