So why do we often have brown discharge or spotting a few days before period? Why is there a gap in between them?

So your progesterone level builds leading up to your period then drops which leads to your period (or with pregnancy it stays up) as it starts to drop , old blood is released, which is this brown spotting . When the levels completely go down then your period starts

Not everyone does, everyone is different. Just depends on you your body and how your uterine lining sheds
